Got a lot of dough lying around, that you don't really make use of? Well then you might want to consider this. For around roughly $1400 or more (excluding tax) You can make yourself a small functional machine with a Mac mini and an iPad! That's right, this option is also helpful for people that would like a temporary monitor, or an extra 10 inches of real estate space along with their monitor.
To do this you will need a Mac mini (Base model is just fine), an iPad (any model works) and you will need to install VNC on the Mac mini and the VNC app on the iPad, now just get it loaded and launch the application, it will wirelessly connect to your Mac mini and voila! You can now control your Mac mini through the touch screen iPad! But for full functionality its important that you include a wireless Apple keyboard, and a magic mouse if you want to take the full desktop advantage!
Quite a lot of money being put in, but hey! Now you have two Apple devices, and who says there's a such thing as "Too much Apple?"
Here is also a video demonstration!
Perfect plan.
ReplyDeleteMy Mini is on the way. Where do I get VNC?
Thanx
It looks very cool!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Hi there! There are many places that you can get a VNC some free, some cost money.. you can take a look at Jaduu VNC, or iTeleport.. these are just some.
ReplyDeleteI dig it. I have been looking at getting a mini for live edit video, but didn't want to have to lug around a huge screen, but this seams like a good choice, I would like to see a Mini Display Port to IPad connection instead of VNC so I can use it when I dont have a network on hand. But I like the idea.
ReplyDeleteSetup an adhoc network on the mac mini,
Delete@Anonymous Thanks mate, the idea is indeed quite unique.. and hopefully a proprietary dongle by Apple could give us a mini display port adaptor! Which would be darn awesome, especially for people like you. Thank you for reading.
ReplyDeletereally good, i am coverted to buying a mini to link to the ipad.cheers for the help
